セブンイレブン、7payアプリのセキュリティ強化を約束
The operator of Seven-Eleven Japan convenience stores has pledged to enhance the security of its new cashless payment service in the aftermath of a major fraud case.
セブン – イレブン・ジャパンのコンビニエンスストアの運営者は、大規模な詐欺事件の結果として、新しいキャッシュレス決済サービスのセキュリティを強化することを約束しました。
About 900 customers who used the smartphone app “7pay” were the victims of a scam that fleeced them out of around 500,000 dollars.
スマートフォンアプリ「7pay」を使用した約900人の顧客が、約5,500万円を奪った詐欺の被害者となりました。
Seven & I Holdings, the parent company of the operator, says it will introduce a two-step authentication system for new users. It will also lower the maximum amount that users can charge to the app. The current limit is around 2,700 dollars.
事業者の親会社であるセブン&アイ・ホールディングスは、新規ユーザー向けに2段階認証システムを導入すると発表した。また、ユーザーがアプリにチャージできる上限額も引き下げられます。現在の上限はおよそ30万円です。
After the problem surfaced, the operator immediately stopped accepting new users and suspended the charging of the app via credit cards. It also increased the number of staff to monitor suspicious transactions.
問題が表面化した後、オペレータはすぐに新しいユーザーを受け入れることをやめ、クレジットカードによるアプリの課金を中断しました。また、疑わしい取引を監視するスタッフの数も増えました。
Experts say the measures are not enough.

Seven & I Holdings says it will also set up a security project as soon as possible. The company has appointed a vice president to oversee the project, with help from independent advisers.

The industry ministry is demanding a thorough investigation and says the operator of the app must swiftly introduce changes to prevent a recurrence.

Ministry officials say unless the operator introduces measures that they consider appropriate, they will exclude the app from a new refund program for cashless shopping set to start in October.
