Protests have continued at Hong Kong International Airport, causing flight check-in services to be suspended.
香港国際空港では抗議行動が続いており、チェックインサービスが停止されています。
Tuesday’s action was called to back demands for an extradition bill that would allow suspects in Hong Kong to be sent to mainland China to be scrapped completely, as well as to protest the police’s handling of demonstrators.
火曜日の抗議は、容疑者を中国本土への引き渡せるようにする法案の完全な撤回を求めるとともに、警察によるデモ隊の対応に抗議するものでした。
A large number of young people gathered at the airport in the afternoon.
午後には多くの若者が空港に集まりました。
In the departure lobby, the protesters occupied areas in front of the two entrances to the security checkpoint, blocking passengers.
出発ロビーでは、抗議者が保安検査場への2つの入り口の前のエリアを占有し、搭乗客を妨害しました。
Airport officials say boarding procedures have been halted since 4:30 p.m. local time.
航空当局は、搭乗手続きは現地時間の午後4時30分から停止していると伝えています。
A university student said she is sorry to cause trouble, but demonstrators need the help of the international community because the government is ignoring their demands.

Operations at the airport were halted by similar protests from Monday until Tuesday morning, causing the cancellation of more than 300 flights on Tuesday.

Last week, more than 200 flights were canceled at the airport amid a general strike.

According to the Hong Kong government, the number of visitors to the territory has dropped significantly since mid-July, when protests intensified. It says the number fell by more than 30 percent between mid-July and early August compared with the same period last year.
香港政府によると、抗議が激化した7月中旬以降、香港への訪問者数は大幅に減少しました。昨年の同時期と比較して、7月中旬から8月上旬にかけて数が30パーセント以上減少したという。
Concern is rising that the sit-in will cause further damage to tourism, one of the territory’s major industries.
