Shiroyama Dam starts discharging water

城山ダム　放流開始

Authorities in Kanagawa Prefecture say they have begun discharging water from the Shiroyama Dam, starting at 9:30 p.m.

神奈川県は、午後9時30分から城山ダムからの放流を開始したと述べています。

It’s an emergency measure to prevent the dam from overflowing.

ダムが溢れるのを防ぐための緊急措置です。

The release will cause the water level in the Sagami River and its tributaries to increase, and authorities are urging residents in the following municipalities in Kanagawa Prefecture to be on alert:
The cities of Sagamihara, Hiratsuka, Chigasaki, Atsugi, Ebina, Zama, and the towns of Samukawa and Aikawa.

この放出により相模川とその支流の水位が上昇し、神奈川県は、圏内の以下の市町村の住民に警戒を呼びかけています。
：相模原、平塚、茅ヶ崎、厚木、海老名、座間、寒川、相川の各都市。

Officials are calling on people to avoid getting too close to the riversides and to act with caution.

県は、川辺に近づきすぎないよう、注意して行動するよう人々に呼びかけています。
