Global death toll from coronavirus tops 200,000

Researchers at Johns Hopkins University say / the global death toll /from the coronavirus has exceeded 200,000.

The US university says / 2,865,938 people had been confirmed to be infected worldwide / as of 18:00 UTC / on Saturday. The death toll stood at 200,698.
土曜日の18時時点で、世界全体で2,865,938人の感染が確認されたという。死者数は200,698人である。
The United States has registered / more than 920,000 infections, with about 50,000 deaths.
アメリカは、5万人の死者と92万人以上の感染を記録した。
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced / on Saturday / that he will authorize 5,000 pharmacies / in the state / to conduct diagnostic coronavirus tests / to increase the testing capacity.
クオモニューヨーク市長は土曜日、検査規模を拡大するため、国内の薬局5,000店舗に、コロナウィルスの検査を行うことを許可すると表明した。
He said the action allows / first responders, health care workers, and essential employees / to be eligible / for the tests.
これにより、ファーストレスポンダー（緊急対応要員）や医療従事者、不可欠な従業員らは検査を受けることが許可される。
Cuomo said these people, including police officers and drivers of public transportation, have been subjected to the public all during the crisis and interact with others.
クオモは、警察官や公共機関の運転手などの人々は、この危機の間公共にさらされ、他人と触れ合っていると述べた。
He added / that if they are infected, they could possibly spread the virus / to a large number of people.
もし彼らが感染したら、多くの人々にウィルスを蔓延させてしまうかもしれないと述べた。
Cuomo also said / it is relatively good news / that the number of people entering hospitals per day has dropped to 1,100. But he added / he wants to see the figure decline / to between 200 and 400.
また、1日に入院した人の数は1,100人まで下がったのは比較的よいニュースであるが、200人〜400人まで数が減少して欲しいと述べた。
A decline in the number of daily hospitalizations is one of the conditions he set to reopen the state’s economy.
1日当たりの入院患者数の減少は、アメリカの経済を再開に向かう条件の一つである。
