Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is expected to reshuffle his Cabinet and ruling party executives in mid-September.
安倍晋三首相は、9月中旬に内閣と与党の幹部を再編する予定です。
Abe spoke to reporters on Monday, the day after the Upper House election. He revealed plans to convene an extraordinary Diet session on August 1 to select the chamber’s president.
参議院選挙の翌日の月曜日、安倍首相は記者団に語った。彼は、8月1日に臨時総会を招集し、正副議長を選出する計画を明らかにしました。
The focus of the expected reshuffle is whether Abe will retain Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga, and the Secretary General of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, Toshihiro Nikai.
予想される再編の焦点は、安倍氏が、副首相である麻生太郎と、管義偉内閣官房長官、自民党幹事長を務める二階俊博を維持するかどうかである。
Abe appears to remain committed to pursuing his longtime goal of amending the Constitution.
安倍首相は、憲法改正という長年の目標を追求することに挑み続けるようです。
He said the election results show voters have decided that the matter should at least be debated. He called on the opposition forces to proceed with the discussion.

Abe suggested that an amendment plan will be prepared that could win enough support from lawmakers to initiate a process to amend the Constitution.

Akira Nagatsuma, deputy president of the opposition Constitutional Democratic Party, criticized Abe, saying his message was confrontational.
立憲民主党代表代行の長妻昭氏は、安倍首相のメッセージは対立的だと非難しました。
The president of the Democratic Party for the People, Yuichiro Tamaki, said it is difficult to endorse the ruling LDP party plan to revise the constitution as it is now.
国民民主党の玉木雄一郎代表は、現在の憲法改正をめぐる与党自民党の計画を支持することは難しいと述べました。
But Tamaki expressed a willingness to engage in positive discussions for the sake of the public interest.
しかし玉木は、一般の人々のために前向きな議論をする意欲を表明しました。
